Brief: Restore the clock at the Chamber of Commerce at Lille.
Details : A 2 stage restoration of 4 exceptional clock faces with a diameter of 3.6 m. First, urgent repairs to the time distribution network. Second, a complete restoration.
Project steps :
- urgent repairs needed to solve the growing problem with the time distribution network – this was quickly dealt with thanks to our extensive knowledge of these systems
- erect scaffolding around the building
- remove the clock hands and mechanism for restoration in our workshops
- clean the mechanism in the workshop in order to reduce the play between the hands and eliminate the jerkiness on the minute hands
- replace the pulse receiver driver
- restore and repaint the hands
- restore the masonry around the clock
- co-ordinate the works and supervise the work of the painters and gilders
- reinstall the time switches and the hands
- restart the clock with a new master clock, radio synchronised with the atomic clock in Frankfurt
