Brief: Restore the clock at the Chamber of Commerce at Lille.

Details : A 2 stage restoration of 4 exceptional clock faces with a diameter of 3.6 m. First, urgent repairs to the time distribution network.  Second, a complete restoration.

Project steps :

• urgent repairs needed to solve the growing problem with the time distribution network – this was quickly dealt with thanks to our extensive knowledge of these systems
• erect scaffolding around the building
• remove the clock hands and mechanism for restoration in our workshops
• clean the mechanism in the workshop in order to reduce the play between the hands and eliminate the jerkiness on the minute hands
• replace the pulse receiver driver
• restore and repaint the hands
• restore the masonry around the clock
• co-ordinate the works and supervise the work of the painters and gilders
• reinstall the time switches and the hands
• restart the clock with a new master clock, radio synchronised with the atomic clock in Frankfurt
